A Little History!
Just a little bit about the history of our church!

First Spiritualist Church of West Allis was founded February 22, 1920 as the Alliance Psychic Research Society and functioned as such until August 1924, when it then became known as the Spiritual Alliance Church of Milwaukee. In April 1928, it was incorporated under the name First Psychic Science Church of Milwaukee and May 18, 1929 it was issued a charter by the Wisconsin State Spiritualist Association. We are now known as the First Spiritualist Church of West Allis and we were located on West Washington Street from 1976 to 2024. We are now located inside The Unity Center of Wauwatosa, at 1717 N 73 street

What is the NSAC?

The advent of Modern Spiritualism began on March 31, 1848. Over time, attempts were made to organize the beliefs and on September 27, 1893, in Chicago, Illinois, the first Convention of Spiritualists convened to organize what was first known as the National Spiritualist Association. In November of 1893, Articles of Incorporation were filed identifying Spiritualism as a Religious Society. The NSA developed the definitions and belief systems we still carry today. In February of 1953, an amendment was filed to change the name to the National Spiritualist Association of Churches under which we are chartered.
Although Spirit Communication has been done since the beginning of recorded time and no doubt before, the recognition of the belief system gave Spiritualism a respected identity. The Nine Principles were debated, discussed, and voted on over many years. They define the beliefs we hold so dearly. Spiritualist churches will always be a welcoming open place for anyone on the journey to self discovery and who is just certain there is more than just this journey.
